David Tarkington is the Lead Pastor at First Family, a multi-site church in Orange Park, Florida. David has been married to Tracy since 1989. He is a graduate of the University of North Texas and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and currently studying at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. David has served on pastoral staff at First since 1994 and as Lead Pastor since 2005. Committed to leading First to engage the community for the sake of the Gospel and equip believers to live out their faith authentically. With multiple campuses and site throughout the region we are focused on reaching Northeast Florida for the Gospel.

David serves as the chaplain for the Orange Park Police Department and the Orange Park Fire Department.

David played college basketball for two years at Texas Wesleyan University and has coached various youth sports teams over the years. He has served as scorekeeper for the Fleming Island High School boys basketball team since 2008.

He is the founder of GameDay Church, a church event taking place prior to each Jacksonville Jaguars home game (even in London.)
