Training

Powerful Runners will meet 2 x weekly to train our runners.  The Powerful Running Club will be focused on girls 3rd-8th grade to increase speed and improve distance. Runners will receive high quality coaching and be challenged to improve upon their running.  As the club continues to grow, powerful runners can expand as a club utilized with any age group and be designed for the same purpose.  The goal is to race in one local race a month beginning in April 2017 as a team. The club will run from Feb. 27th-June 30th and will reconvene middle to the end of August.  Runners are encouraged to invite other runners who want to become serious about running.

Speed Training

Speed training is a vital component of becoming a great runner.  Runners must be able to understand the dynamics of running, improve foot work, mechanics and basic stances associated with running.  Through the use of speed and agility training (speed ladders and cone training) runners will better their techniques and increase in speed.  

Endurance-Distance Training

 

Increasing endurance in runners will improve the distances that a runner is able to complete. Distance training will be challenging and will involve pacing, breathing and proper techniques associated with running long-distance.  Whether our athletes are competing in local races or training for cross-country, endurance training is important to elite runners.

Races

 

Powerful Runners will participate in 5k, 10k, Mud Runs and a variety of other runs throughout Northeast Tennessee.  Runners will be able to participate in unique/fun runs, runs that are designed to raise money for a specific cause while challenging themselves to improve speed, distance and time.  The ultimate goal of Powerful Runners is to design a 5k to raise money for Building Powerful Athletes and help to provide equipment and/or build facilities to improve local athletics within communities in need.
